Breast reduction

B

While some women complain of too small breasts and resort to breast augmentation, others, on the contrary, suffer from too large breasts with multiple problems  that go with them. For the latter, cosmetic breast reduction surgery can bring many benefits.

The goal of breast reduction is to correct the size and shape of the breast. The procedure is usually performed on women with overly large breasts, or drooping breasts due to weight variations, age, pregnancy or breastfeeding. It is an operation that also corrects asymmetrical breasts.

Breast reduction Breast reduction in Tunisia, the Center Clinic

Whether for aesthetic or medical reasons, breast reduction in Tunisia helps some women to regain their comfort of life. These women often suffer daily from back or neck pain due to the large volume of their breasts. During breast reduction, ptosis (sagging breasts) is treated, the areola and nipple are reshaped and the breasts are lifted. A breast reduction can be considered from the end of puberty and then without age limits as soon as the health of the patient allows it.

Realization

Surgery for breast reduction is usually performed in 3 steps:

Anesthesia

In Tunisia, general anesthesia is most often used during breast reduction surgery.

The incisions

Once the general anesthesia has been administered, the surgeon makes incisions in different areas of the chest. Usually three incisions are made to lift the breasts, one around the areola, one vertical and one in the fold under the breast which forms an inverted T.

Removal of excesses and repositioning of the breasts

Once the incisions have been made, excess skin and glandular tissue are excised and the fat is suctioned out using the liposuction technique. The glandular tissue (mammary gland) is reshaped, and the breasts are carefully repositioned to avoid altering their natural functions. Finally, the areolar complex is raised and the incisions are sutured.

At the end of the operation, the practitioner puts in place drains to prevent hematomas from appearing. He then applies a shaping bandage with elastic bands in the shape of a bra. The operation usually lasts between two and three hours, with the patient being kept one to two nights in the clinic. Throughout the process of breast reduction, the surgeon preserves the vascularization of the mammary gland and the sensitivity of the breast as much as possible.
